XSYS launches nyloflex® eco flexo plate series

XSYS unveils the nyloflex® eco series, featuring faster processing times and sustainable materials, at drupa 2024.

XSYS, a global provider of flexographic printing plates and prepress solutions, has introduced the nyloflex® eco series, a new line of printing plates incorporating renewable raw materials. These plates promise a 20% faster processing time, leading to significant time and energy savings.

The nyloflex® eco series features two new plates: the nyloflex® eco ACT and the nyloflex® eco FAC. Florian Hoelzle, Product Manager for nyloflex®/nylosolv®, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability without compromising quality. “As the entire packaging printing value chain shifts towards sustainable solutions, XSYS has launched the nyloflex® eco plate series under the slogan ‘Lifting proven quality to a sustainable future,’” he said. “The highest print quality and product durability are imperative to maintain the competitiveness of our customers and the flexographic printing industry as a whole.”

The nyloflex® eco ACT, a medium-hard photopolymer flexo plate, is designed for paper and board applications. It is compatible with both tube and LED exposure systems, allowing for seamless integration into existing processes. This plate excels with water-based inks on absorbent substrates such as preprint, paper bags, folding cartons, and wrapping paper.

The nyloflex® eco FAC, a soft photopolymer flexo plate, is ideal for corrugated post-print. It performs well on rough and uneven surfaces and pressure-sensitive substrates, offering robustness and durability.

The new eco-friendly plates include 19-29% renewable raw materials and reduce processing time by 20%, enhancing productivity while lowering energy and solvent consumption. Dr. Eva Freudenthaler, Vice President of Technology, noted the significance of this development. “The market launch of the nyloflex® eco product series marks an important milestone in our efforts to contribute to a more sustainable industry,” she said.

Dr. Freudenthaler also mentioned future plans: “Within the next 12-18 months, nyloflex® eco ACT and nyloflex® eco FAC will replace their predecessors. We have embarked on a project to standardize all nyloflex® flexo plate colors over the coming 24-36 months to a bright, clear, light blue hue. This color harmonization allows for more efficient production processes and a reduction of waste, which will further improve the carbon footprint of our products. Product performance remains a top priority.”

The nyloflex® eco series plates and print samples will be showcased and available for order at the XSYS Booth in Hall 8B, Stand A30, during drupa.
