XSYS has announced further progress in converting its traditional flexo printing plates to the more sustainable nyloflex® eco series, introducing two new analog plates: nyloflex® eco ACT and nyloflex® eco FAC. This initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to advancing sustainability in flexo printing.
Designed for analog imaging, the new plates incorporate XSYS’ proprietary formulation made from renewable raw materials. According to the company, these plates contain between 19% and 29% renewable components, reducing the environmental footprint throughout their lifecycle. Additionally, the plates reportedly cut processing time by up to 20%, minimizing energy and solvent use during platemaking.
Florian Hoelzle, Product Manager for nyloflex®/nylosolv®, stated, “At XSYS, we are committed to lifting proven quality to a sustainable future. Offering analog eco versions of nyloflex® ACT and nyloflex® FAC is a natural progression, allowing us to support even more customers in their sustainability efforts.”
The nyloflex® eco ACT is tailored for paper and board applications, delivering strong performance with water-based inks on absorbent substrates. The nyloflex® eco FAC, meanwhile, is optimized for corrugated post-print, providing consistent quality on rough or pressure-sensitive materials. Both plates feature a standardized light blue color, aimed at streamlining plate production and reducing waste.
Notably, XSYS emphasizes that the nyloflex® eco plates can replace legacy versions without requiring extensive press trials, ensuring a seamless transition for customers.
“With the nyloflex® eco plate series, introduced at drupa last year, we are making significant strides in sustainability,” Hoelzle added. “We will continue to develop products that reduce environmental impacts while maintaining or improving print quality.”
XSYS plans to expand the eco portfolio further in the coming months, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability in the flexo printing industry.
