Sun Chemical, X-Rite Incorporated, and Pantone LLC have introduced new Monobloc color libraries to the PantoneLIVE™ digital color ecosystem. These libraries are designed to support the accurate communication of Pantone color standards in the production of monobloc cans, aluminum tubes, cartridges, and felt pen cases, particularly focusing on gloss and matte varnish finishes.
The new libraries are now available in the ‘PantoneLIVE Production – Print and Packaging’ subscription and aim to provide a reliable representation of Pantone colors for producing extruded aluminum aerosol cans. Developed by capturing the closest achievable match to core Pantone Matching System colors, the libraries use applied ink with either gloss or matte varnish on monobloc cans, bottles, or containers.
“This addition simplifies the color approval process for brands and manufacturers, eliminating guesswork and delays with ink laydowns,” said Eduardo Alegria, Global Champion Metal Deco inks at Sun Chemical. “The result is a more sustainable and cost-effective production process.”
PantoneLIVE integrates with X-Rite solutions such as ColorCert, Color iQC, Autura Ink Software, and the Ci64 handheld color measurement device, providing a comprehensive color management system. This integration enhances the efficiency of design and printing processes.
“Can making is a complex process, and the reflective, curved shape of aluminum containers makes producing accurate, consistent color a challenge,” said Cindy Cooperman, VP of Global Brand Sales at X-Rite. “The monobloc libraries in PantoneLIVE, combined with X-Rite’s spectrophotometer and software, ensure that manufacturers can easily select, measure, and produce consistent colors to maintain brand integrity.”
