Vytal Global and PepsiCo partner to launch reusable cup

Vytal and PepsiCo introduce the first smart, reusable Pepsi cup, revolutionizing sustainability in the beverage industry.

Vytal Global has announced a partnership with PepsiCo to introduce the first PepsiCo reusable cup with dual-tracking technology at INTERNORGA. This collaboration aims to promote sustainable customer loyalty and efficient logistics. Vytal is also expanding into the event industry, showcasing several technological innovations at its stand.

The theme “MORE THAN A CUP” underscores Vytal’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The company has established a subsidiary, Vytal Events & Entertainment Solutions, to focus on the event market. By equipping event locations for the Berlinale 2024, Vytal has demonstrated its range of software solutions and logistics services.

Dr. Tim Breker, founder and CEO of Vytal, highlights the benefits of their technology: “With our range of smart technology, we are saving costs, gaining efficiency and transparency, and opening up new opportunities in customer interaction.”

Vytal is focusing on convenience and innovating the entire value chain from dispensing to return. Guests can borrow reusable containers via app or directly by credit or debit card using the “Tap2Borrow” function. A cup dispenser allows canteen guests to borrow reusable cups without staff assistance. The smart take-back option automatically disposes of borrowed containers.

The Vytal Pepsi Cup is a smart reusable cup with a QR code for customer interaction and an RFID tag for operational processes. Over the next two years, 100,000 branded cups will be launched through QSR partners and major PepsiCo events in Germany.

Torben Nielsen, Managing Director of PepsiCo DACH, emphasizes the partnership’s environmental impact: “By partnering with Vytal, we are intensifying our focus on the away-from-home segment and effectively contributing to minimizing plastic waste.”

Dr. Josephine Kreische, Managing Director of Vytal, highlights the scalability of reusable packaging: “To make a real contribution to protecting ecosystems, reusable packaging must work on a mass scale. The cooperation with PepsiCo enables exactly this.”

The Vytal Pepsi Cup aims to persuade food service customers to switch to a sustainable reusable system, reducing waste and handling logistical processes efficiently.

With the introduction of the Vytal Pepsi Cup and entry into the event and entertainment industry, Vytal and PepsiCo are setting new standards in innovation and environmental protection, creating new incentives for stakeholders to join this sustainable development.
