Sheikh Abdullah Faisal Abdulla Ahmed Almualla, Director of Al-Faisal Group and Umm Al Quwain Computer Forms (UAQ Forms), has announced a significant enhancement in the company’s packaging-printing capabilities. This development comes as UAQ Forms, a prominent player in the UAE’s computer stationery sector since 1989, shifts its focus to meet the growing demand for high-quality packaging solutions, particularly in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
Established in 1989 with a single computer stationery machine, UAQ Forms has experienced substantial growth over the decades. By 1995, the company had expanded to two machines, increasing to three by 1999, and reaching five machines by 2004. This growth solidified its position as a leading producer in the UAE. The company’s expansion also included opening a sales office in Dubai in 2002, relocating to Century Tower in 2004, and adding an office in Abu Dhabi.
Since 2015, UAQ Forms has been strategically transitioning towards packaging, with over 60% of its sales now coming from this sector. The company aims to increase this figure to 80% in the near future. A key element of this transition is the recent acquisition of the Heidelberg Speedmaster CX104, a state-of-the-art printing press designed for folding and mono-carton packaging. This advanced machine features a five-color printing-coating system and is noted for its versatility in both conventional and UV printing applications.
Sheikh Abdullah Faisal Abdulla Ahmed Almualla emphasized the significance of the Heidelberg CX 104, stating, “Heidelberg is considered gold in the printing industry. We chose this machine for its ability to deliver high-end packaging with detailed precision, which is essential for our pharmaceutical and luxury packaging clients.”
Roger Nicodeme, General Manager at Heidelberg Gulf Est., highlighted the strategic importance of the investment: “This move represents a major milestone, transitioning UAQ Forms from conventional printing to advanced UV capabilities.”
Biju George, General Sales Manager at Heidelberg, added that the CX 104’s ability to handle a variety of materials and effects will enable UAQ Forms to produce intricate pharmaceutical and luxury packaging previously unattainable.
Abdul Fateh, General Manager of UAQ Forms, discussed the company’s evolution: “We started with computer stationery and have progressively expanded into commercial printing. Our focus is now on packaging, which currently constitutes over 60% of our sales. With the new machinery, we expect this to rise to 80%.”
Sheikh Abdullah concluded with optimism about the future, noting that the $3.26 million investment is projected to boost UAQ Forms’ annual turnover to approximately $35 million. “We are committed to expanding our business and delivering top-quality products to our clients,” he affirmed.
UAQ Forms’ strategic expansion into the packaging sector underscores its dedication to innovation and adaptability in a competitive market. With these enhanced capabilities, the company is well-positioned to address the evolving needs of clients both in the UAE and internationally.
