Twellium Industrial Company has teamed up with Sidel to develop a new state-of-the-art packaging facility in Kumasi, Ghana. The greenfield project, which marks Twellium’s third production site, will house two complete PET packaging lines for both still and carbonated beverages. Twellium, known for producing non-alcoholic beverages such as Verna Mineral Water and brands like Rush Energy Drink and Original American Cola, already operates facilities in Accra, Ghana, and Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
The Kumasi site, built entirely from scratch, incorporates the latest processing and packaging technologies. Sidel played a key role in the installation of two advanced production lines, focusing on flexibility to handle various beverage types, including water, carbonated soft drinks (CSD), and energy drinks. The facility also accommodates different PET bottle sizes, ensuring the production capacity meets diverse market demands.
One of the key features of the Kumasi site is Africa’s fastest complete PET water line, which produces 80,000 bottles per hour using Sidel’s Combi solution, combining blow molding, filling, and capping in a compact system. The plant is also equipped with a modern water treatment room and an automated cleaning-in-place (CIP) system to ensure high hygiene and safety standards.
Additionally, a separate line for carbonated soft drinks has been installed, capable of producing 65,000 bottles per hour. Sidel’s customised EvoDECO Roll-Fed labeller enables the application of QR codes on bottle caps, meeting Ghanaian regulations and enhancing product traceability.
“Sidel’s complete PET packaging lines ensure that we meet growing demand efficiently while creating regional job opportunities,” said Ali Ajami, Marketing Director of Twellium, highlighting the importance of the partnership for Ghana’s beverage industry.
