The print industry’s focus on sustainability will be front and center at drupa 2024, as the German industrial association VDMA Printing and Paper Technology and drupa collaborate to explore the future. The touchpoint sustainability exhibition, spanning 400 m2, will showcase best-practice examples and innovative solutions from key industry stakeholders to enhance sustainability across the value chain.
“The touchpoint sustainability is the forum by drupa in which the print and paper industry deals with its role within a sustainable transformation, and which offers a unique overview of the current state of the industry and its medium and long-term developments,” says Thomas Schiemann, member of the board of management at VDMA Printing and Paper Technology.
Technologies from mechanical and system engineering play a crucial role, emphasizing quality, process safety, and sustainability. Digitalization and AI are key drivers to accelerate transformation and achieve scaling effects.
The touchpoint will feature discussions and presentations on reducing energy and resource consumption, minimizing material and ink use, recycling inks, and environmentally friendly finishing processes. These discussions will be presented in an accessible manner, highlighting various use cases.
“The concept to have students as partners for talks and discussions at the entire booth is intended to appeal especially to young people and make them excited about our industry,” says Thomas Schiemann.
