TOPPAN Digital Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of TOPPAN Holdings Inc., has developed a color version of its Illumigram™ hologram, enhancing visual impact and counterfeit resistance. Previously available only in white, Illumigram now supports multiple fixed colors such as blue, red, and yellow. Launched in April, the new hologram targets industries combating counterfeit goods, including pharmaceuticals, beauty products, luxury brands, machinery parts, and licensed items.

Initially introduced in June 2022, Illumigram is a hologram that reveals three-dimensional text and images when illuminated by a smartphone flashlight. Unlike traditional holograms, Illumigram’s colors remain constant, regardless of viewing angle, due to TOPPAN’s advanced optical calculation and nanostructure control technologies. This feature significantly increases difficulty for counterfeiters, providing clearer authenticity verification.
Peter Toshimitsu, CEO of TOPPAN Digital, emphasized, “We aim to prevent the distribution of counterfeits and imitations by providing a hologram with stronger visual impact and anticounterfeiting performance.”
The color version of Illumigram can integrate seamlessly with other holographic products developed by TOPPAN Group, such as Secure Color™, which provides pastel structural colors, and Twilightgram™, displaying latent images upon tilting. It also pairs effectively with ID-NEX™, a smartphone-based ID verification service, offering comprehensive anticounterfeit solutions.
Traditional rainbow holograms, while popular for decoration, are easier to replicate due to lower technical complexity. In contrast, Illumigram’s fixed-color technology provides enhanced security, offering precise authenticity checks accessible to all users without specialized equipment.
