Taghleef Industries (Ti), a global biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BoPP) producer, has completed its acquisition of Derprosa Film, a leading Spanish supplier of flexible films for the packaging industry and the graphic arts applications.
Derprosa Film’s portfolio of films for graphic arts applications in luxury packaging will help Ti enter new markets, said Rashid Al Ghurair, chairman of Taghleef Industries.
“The high-added value film range of Derprosa Film will allow Ti to penetrate new markets, diversify its product offering and seize further business opportunities,” he said. “Our companies will join their forces and consolidate their presence worldwide.”
Founded in 1988 in Jaén, Spain, Derprosa Film manufactures and markets BoPP films for food packaging, labels and graphic arts. With a headquarters and production facilities in Southern Spain, the firm has an office in Madrid and a worldwide sales network.
Valerio Garzitto, CEO Ti Europe commented: ”I am looking forward to joining forces with Derprosa to increase our contribution to our customers in Europe. The combination of our assets will offer greater capacity, a wider product diversity, brands offering, increase of geographical proximity to customers and last but not least increase our market share.”
Derprosa Film will be incorporated with Ti Europe, with production in Egypt, Hungary, Italy and Spain.
The acquisition will expand the Ti group’s presence while increasing its annual global BoPP film production capacity to about 400,000 tons.
