Syntegon has launched its new MLD Advanced filling machine, designed specifically for ready-to-use (RTU) nested syringes. The machine meets growing demands from pharmaceutical manufacturers for high-output, precision filling, and 100 percent in-process control (IPC).

Markus Burkert, Product Manager at Syntegon, explained, “Especially with high-value medicines, it is essential that each drop is filled and weighed optimally.” The MLD Advanced integrates Syntegon’s MLD platform—previously used for cartridges and vials—with its syringe filling technologies, offering flexibility and maximum product yield.
The MLD Advanced features several key technologies, including no-touch automatic bag and tub openers for aseptic transfer and a Pharma Handling Unit that denests syringes without glass-to-glass contact. A unique circulating transport system moves syringes smoothly through the process, ensuring gentle handling. “The special circulating transport system ensures smooth transportation and is therefore ideal for RTU syringes,” Burkert said.
Syringes are weighed using 100 percent IPC before filling, ensuring precise weight control. Klaus Ullherr, Senior Product Manager, emphasized the importance of documentation, saying, “This gives manufacturers the certainty that all containers have been filled correctly.” The process also includes stopper insertion via vacuum or vent tube.
Syntegon has already received its first customer order for the MLD Advanced, which will be used for filling RTU syringes at a European pharmaceutical manufacturer.
