Skanem Africa has launched a new labeling factory in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, aiming to enhance service delivery and expand market reach within the East African region. The facility began operations in late July 2024, positioning Skanem closer to its customers and new markets.
The new Tanzanian site complements existing operations in Kenya, focusing on increasing production volume, capacity, and reducing lead times. This local manufacturing presence is designed to better serve Skanem’s existing customers and attract new ones.
The facility is equipped with advanced machinery, starting with a cutting-edge printing press capable of producing various labels for the flexographic industry. These include self-adhesive labels, BOPP wrap-around labels, and shrink sleeves, ensuring high-quality labeling solutions for businesses in Tanzania and beyond. Future plans include expanding with additional presses and labeling options to meet industry demands.
“The new facility will serve as a crucial backup for our operations in Kenya,” said a Skanem Africa representative. “This will enhance our business contingency planning and ensure continuous production capabilities.”
Located in the commercial hub of Dar es Salaam, the factory is strategically positioned to serve markets in seven East African countries: Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. This expansion marks a significant milestone in Skanem Africa’s regional growth.
The new factory is expected to significantly improve servicing and delivery for both existing and new clients. Skanem Africa remains committed to supporting local and regional businesses with top-tier labeling solutions, aiming to further solidify its footprint in the East African market.
