Siegwerk 2024 Sustainability Report highlights milestones in carbon reduction and circularity

Siegwerk advances sustainability with milestones in carbon neutrality and circular economy coatings.

Siegwerk has unveiled its 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing significant advancements in areas such as human rights, carbon emissions reduction, and circular economy coatings. The report reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to embed sustainability into its operations and supply chain.

Focus on Human Rights and Supplier Conduct

Siegwerk has enhanced its commitment to human rights by appointing a Human Rights Officer and implementing a comprehensive Supplier Sustainability Program. This initiative prioritizes sustainable procurement practices and transparency across the supply chain. The newly introduced Business Partner Code of Conduct outlines expectations for ethical practices, aiming to foster collaboration and improve human rights and environmental standards.

Carbon Emissions Milestones

As part of its strategy to combat climate change, Siegwerk has completed a third-party-certified carbon audit through TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. The audit validated the company’s Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), ensuring data transparency. The company remains committed to achieving carbon neutrality for scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2025. Notably, Siegwerk achieved 100% renewable electricity sourcing in 2023, marking a significant step toward its science-based targets.

Circular Economy Coatings

The report highlights the expansion of Siegwerk’s CIRKIT product range, which includes functional coatings that enhance packaging recyclability and reusability. These coatings address essential functionalities, such as barriers and sealability, while adhering to circular economy principles. Additionally, the company has established a global business unit focused on Circular Economy Coatings, further emphasizing its commitment to sustainable packaging solutions.

“Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” said Alina Marm, Head of Global Sustainability and Circular Economy at Siegwerk. “In this report, we are happy to share the progress we made and provide concrete examples of our efforts.”

The 2024 Sustainability Report underscores Siegwerk’s dedication to advancing sustainable practices and addressing critical challenges in the industry, reaffirming its role as a leader in environmental stewardship.
