Sidel’s Octeville site has been awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis, placing the company in the top five percent of businesses assessed for sustainability in 2024. The recognition follows a comprehensive review of Sidel’s supply chain strategy at both local and corporate levels.
The EcoVadis assessment evaluates companies across four key categories: environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Sidel’s performance in these areas contributed to its high ranking. More than 125,000 companies worldwide have been assessed by EcoVadis, making it one of the most recognized sustainability rating platforms. The Gold Medal indicates a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and continuous improvements in sustainable practices.
“We’re pleased to receive this Gold Medal for our EcoVadis reporting,” said Francesca Bellucci, Vice President of Strategy and Sustainability at Sidel. “This achievement reflects our commitment to sustainability, ethics, and responsible business practices.”
Rigorous Assessment Process
Sidel partnered with EcoVadis in 2017 to monitor and enhance its sustainability efforts. The latest evaluation involved more than 300 questions covering critical areas such as environmental impact, labor rights, health and safety, ethics, and responsible procurement. The assessment considered both the Octeville site and corporate-level practices, making the process more comprehensive.
“The evaluation was both rigorous and extensive, requiring significant collaboration from our teams,” said Armelle Biton, HSE Business Partner at Sidel. “It included detailed reporting on our sustainability strategy, ensuring that we meet high ethical and environmental standards.”
EcoVadis uses a methodology based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000. The process evaluates a company’s policies, actions, and reporting to ensure responsible and ethical business conduct.
Future Sustainability Goals
Beyond this achievement, Sidel continues to work towards enhancing its sustainability practices at the group level. The company aims to integrate more sustainable sourcing and production methods while further improving transparency in its reporting. Efforts are also being made to enhance waste reduction strategies, energy efficiency, and responsible procurement across the supply chain.
“This recognition motivates us to push further in our sustainability journey,” Bellucci added. “We will continue to strengthen our initiatives and commitments to create a more sustainable future.”
With the EcoVadis Gold Medal, Sidel reaffirms its dedication to responsible business practices and continuous improvement in environmental and social performance. The company’s focus remains on innovation and sustainability as core principles for future growth.
