SCHÜTZ and National Plastic Factory Company (NPF) have signed a licence agreement to produce ECOBULK Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) for the Saudi Arabian and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets. A new production facility will be established near Dammam, a strategic port city on the Arabian Gulf.
Founded in Riyadh in 1976, NPF is a major manufacturer of plastic packaging in Saudi Arabia, producing drums and jerrycans. The company operates two ISO 9001-certified plants in Riyadh, supplying industries domestically and internationally. The new facility near Dammam will enhance regional access to SCHÜTZ ECOBULK IBCs, catering to sectors including chemicals, oil, lubricants, and food production.
Production will be carried out using SCHÜTZ’s original machinery and equipment. The German company will supply steel and plastic components, including tubes for the IBC cage, screw caps, and outlet valves.
Roland Strassburger, CEO of Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA, described the partnership as a strategic expansion into a dynamic market. “National Plastic Factory Company is the ideal partner to produce our high-quality ECOBULK IBCs in Saudi Arabia. Together, we are establishing a strong local presence to provide the best possible service to our customers in the region,” he said.
Shaker Tawfiq Al-Taher, Chairman of NPF, emphasized the benefits of the collaboration. “The cooperation with SCHÜTZ enables us to add one of the world’s leading sustainable transport packaging systems to our product portfolio. With the latest technology and comprehensive support from SCHÜTZ, we are setting new standards for industrial packaging in the GCC region,” he stated.

Production is expected to begin in 2026, with the first IBCs to be supplied to the Saudi and GCC markets. Customers can contact NPF for details on specifications and availability.
