ProAmpac, a major player in flexible packaging and material science, has launched ProActive Intelligence Moisture Protect (MP-1000), a breakthrough moisture-adsorbing technology. This patent-pending innovation, using Aptar’s CSP Technologies’ 3-Phase Activ-Polymer™ platform technology, eliminates the need for desiccant packets. MP-1000 aims to reduce moisture levels in packaging headspace, beneficial for applications like point-of-care diagnostic kits, live culture probiotics, and hygroscopic powdery food products.
Hesam Tabatabaei, Senior VP of Global Product Development and Innovation for ProAmpac, highlighted the high moisture-adsorbing capacity, anticipating a significant impact on flexible packaging moisture protection. He acknowledged the collaboration with Aptar CSP Technologies, stating, “Our material science work and exclusive collaboration with Aptar CSP Technologies have brought the latest active packaging products to the market.”
Badre Hammond, VP Global Commercial Operations and GM APAC for Aptar CSP Technologies, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, aiming to revolutionize active packaging delivery. He stated, “We are pleased to unveil this new platform of active material solutions with ProAmpac, transforming active packaging delivery and fulfilling market needs.”
The MP-1000 platforms offer benefits, including eliminating sachets, reducing downtime, enhancing product quality, and minimizing waste through extended shelf life. For probiotics and hygroscopic food products, the solution adsorbs excess moisture and shields contents from moisture exposure.
Sam Kessler, Senior Innovation Engineer for Active/Intelligent Packaging at ProAmpac, highlighted the technology’s features, stating, “MP-1000 delivers customized microclimate protection with varying moisture capacities to meet different product needs. Our cutting-edge technology has excellent seal characteristics and runs on high-speed form-fill-sealing equipment, ensuring product integrity and compatibility with existing flexible packaging equipment.”
