Piovan Group, a global leader in process automation systems, will present its latest innovations in rPET packaging analysis at Gulfood Manufacturing 2024. At hall 1, stand 118, the company will highlight Inspecta, a groundbreaking range of analysers designed to enhance safety and sustainability in PET packaging production.
The Inspecta line features two key models that Piovan will demonstrate: Inspecta Ac, designed to detect acetaldehyde, and Inspecta Be, which identifies benzene—a crucial innovation for ensuring the safety of recycled PET. Inspecta Be was previously recognized as a finalist in the 2021 Sustainability Awards, underscoring its role in addressing benzene contamination risks.
Piovan will also unveil how Inspecta revolutionizes PET testing by integrating advanced gas chromatography (GC) technology directly into production lines. This technology will allow producers to perform real-time, in-line analysis of acetaldehyde and benzene in PET products, streamlining a process that traditionally required laboratory testing. Inspecta will test various PET forms, including granules, preforms, and bottles, within 36 to 60 minutes, depending on the model.
“Inspecta will enable complete traceability from raw materials to finished products, ensuring consumer safety and supporting the shift toward sustainable materials,” Piovan Group will explain. The system’s real-time capabilities will allow immediate intervention if contaminants like benzene are detected, a key concern in post-consumer recycled plastics.
In addition to Inspecta, Piovan will showcase other new technologies for simplifying the use of recycled plastics, including:
- Condenso, which removes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the recycling process using an energy recovery system.
- SoftBoost, a patented system that heats PET granules to the core, reducing thermal stress and improving energy efficiency.
- Vulkano, a portable device that monitors VOCs in process air, ensuring filter effectiveness.
- EasyPure with Odor Minder, designed to eliminate odors from post-consumer plastics, with continuous monitoring to verify performance.
These innovations demonstrate Piovan’s commitment to driving advancements in sustainable packaging technologies and ensuring the safety of recycled materials.
