Orkla India, the parent company of MTR and Eastern, will unveil its new Quick Kerala Breakfast range at Gulfood 2025, aiming to expand its presence in the Middle East’s packaged food sector. The launch, under its recently established subsidiary Orkla IMEA, includes the Eastern 5-Minute Breakfast range with updated branding and packaging.
Indian expatriates, particularly Keralites, form a significant consumer base in the UAE. To cater to the demand for convenient, traditional meals, Eastern has introduced a lineup of Kerala breakfast dishes that can be prepared in five minutes. The range features seven staple items: Puttu, Chemba Puttu, Idiyappam, Idli, Dosa, Ghee Upmavu, and Palappam. The products are designed for ease of use, following a simple three-step preparation process while maintaining authentic flavors.
Speaking at Gulfood 2025, Ashvin Subramanyam, CEO of International Business at Orkla India, said: “We are excited to showcase Eastern’s refreshed brand identity, new packaging, and latest range of 5-minute breakfast products. Breakfast holds cultural significance for Malayalees, and this range allows consumers to enjoy Kerala’s traditional flavors with added convenience.”
Orkla India views the Middle East as a key market for growth, with an increasing focus on local consumer preferences. In addition to the Quick Kerala Breakfast range, Orkla IMEA is expanding its Arabic spice portfolio to cater to a broader audience. The company will present its latest offerings at Gulfood 2025 from February 17 to 21 at Hall No. 5, Stand No. B5-19.
