Omet and Printech ME collaborate on innovation and sustainability across Pack-Print-Converting

L-R: Printech ME’s Technical Director Jay Chawda and OMET’s Sales Export Manager Andrea Angeli in discussion with Packaging MEA

In the wake of remarkable growth and achievements both globally and particularly in the MEA region, the spotlight shines brightly on OMET, a leading name in the realm of Packaging Printing Machines. With the inauguration of their expansive new headquarters spanning an impressive 20,000 square meters, OMET reaffirms its commitment to innovation and excellence.

OMET’s Packaging Printing Machines unit offer cutting-edge solutions including a range of multi-technology, multi-product, and multi-application narrow and mid-web platform machines for labels and packaging printing.
In a recent exclusive interview held in Dubai, Ben Daniel sat down with Andrea Angeli, Sales Export Manager for OMET, and Jay Chawda, the Technical Director for Printech Middle East. The agenda? To explore their companies’ latest breakthroughs, commitment to sustainability, and the enduring partnership that has propelled them to great success across the region.

Ben Daniel: Andrea, could you provide a concise summary of OMET’s emphasis on innovation within the label and flexible packaging sector?
Andrea Angeli: Certainly! OMET is renowned as a market leader in printing and converting machinery, offering a range of technologies from flexo to offset, rotogravure, screen, and digital. Our recent focus has been on standardizing automation to a premium level across all machine segments. This includes features such as fully automated processes with on-the-fly registration, sensors, multi-cameras, and automated die-cutting.
These enhancements aim to reduce waste, enhance productivity, and overall quality, regardless of the machine model. Our commitment to customer support and market presence has been pivotal to our success.

Ben Daniel: OK. Can you expand on the recent innovations and automation solutions introduced by OMET, specifically within the labels and flexible packaging sector?
Andrea Angeli: Absolutely!
We recognize that a one-size-fits-all approach is no longer viable in the market. Therefore, we customize machines to combine various technologies such as UV, water-based, and even solvent inks, with a preference for water-based for environmental reasons. Our focus is on solutions that facilitate fast changeovers, reducing setup times and waste. Furthermore, SFERA, our latest digital platform, has been developed to provide real-time monitoring of all connected OMET machines. It facilitates the analysis of machine-related data, empowering customers to make informed operational decisions.

Ben Daniel: Sustainability is a key concern for the industry. Could you outline OMET’s initiatives in this area and how you’re translating these ideas into action?
Andrea Angeli: Sustainability is at the core of our operations. We are increasingly incorporating LED curing systems into our machines and have developed a cold foil application with a saving system that reduces foil consumption by 50%. This not only reduces plastic waste but also minimizes energy consumption. By focusing on reducing both material and time waste, we are aligning our efforts with environmental goals and ensuring a sustainable future.

Ben Daniel: Jay, with Printech Middle East’s strong 12-year partnership with OMET, could you share your insights on this journey and highlight the commitment of both OMET and Printech to the label industry in the region?
Jay Chawda: Working with OMET has been incredibly rewarding. Our partnership has enabled us to grow and lead the market together. OMET has consistently supported us with innovative solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. Our commitment to customer delight has been a driving force behind our success, and I believe that with OMET’s continued innovations, we will maintain our leadership position in the industry.

Ben Daniel: Andrea, to conclude, could you summarize OMET’s relationship with Printech and your commitment to this region?
Andrea Angeli: Our partnership with Printech has been built on mutual trust and a commitment to excellence. We are continually improving our service offerings, recognizing that more machines mean greater customer needs. Our foreign branch, OMET India, plays a crucial role in providing technical support not only in India but also in the MEA. We are fully dedicated to this region and look forward to further strengthening our presence here.
