NILE Recycling partners with Starlinger for advanced PET recycling line at Arabplast 2025

NILE Recycling signs groundbreaking deal for advanced PET recycling line at Starlinger stand during ArabPlast 2025.

NILE Recycling Company, based in Egypt, has signed a contract for the installation of a Starlinger recoS-STAR PET 165 recycling line, announced at Arabplast 2025 in Dubai. This cutting-edge technology aims to enhance the production of high-quality recycled PET, advancing sustainability and operational efficiency in the region.

Mohamed Sa’adany, Co-Founder and CEO of Nile Recycling, emphasized the importance of this project for Egypt’s environmental future. “Our state-of-the-art recycling facility aims to revolutionize the local perception of used plastic, turning it from waste into a valuable resource, while fostering a circular economy,” Sa’adany stated.

The new facility is expected to address the growing problem of plastic waste in Egypt, where much of it ends up in landfills or is incinerated, posing environmental risks. With over 120 million residents, Egypt faces a pressing need for solutions to tackle plastic pollution.

Shady Magdy, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Nile Recycling, explained the inspiration behind the company’s shift toward recycling. “The scale of single-use plastic pollution and its environmental impact became undeniable. In response to increasing demand for sustainable packaging, we recognized the opportunity to offer a solution that balances environmental stewardship with the delivery of high-quality recycled materials,” said Magdy.

The recoS-STAR PET line is designed for bottle-to-bottle recycling, ensuring high-purity granulate with low VOCs. It utilizes FIFO pre-drying of PET flakes, which optimizes extrusion preparation. The system is energy-efficient, with features for energy recovery and the use of alternative energy sources such as natural gas or steam.

This collaboration, announced at Arabplast 2025, is a significant step toward ecological resilience, helping to reduce plastic waste in Egypt while contributing to global efforts to promote sustainability and the circular economy.
