New UV-curing Ink series MetalCure® U30 launched for coated metal substrates

Test Form of MetalCure® U30

The new MetalCure® U30 UV-curing ink series by Zeller + Gmelin is designed for use with coated metal substrates in sheet-fed offset printing. Developed over 20 years, this latest iteration aims to offer significant improvements over its predecessor, UVALUX® U3.

The MetalCure® U30 series provides high-quality prints with rich colors, thanks to its optimum ink transfer and homogeneous ink laydown. The new formulation allows for thinner ink layers while maintaining high density. The pigment matching with UVALUX® U3 ensures that existing mixing formulations can be seamlessly integrated.

A notable feature of MetalCure® U30 is its updated numbering system, which simplifies color designation. However, the reference to the previous UVALUX® U3 product remains visible to ease the transition.

The ink series is also designed with sustainability in mind. MetalCure® U30 is free from ITX, BPA, benzophenone, Irgacure 369, Irgacure 379, TPO, TMPTA, PFAS, PFOA, and PTFE. An independent analysis has confirmed its suitability for food packaging applications.

The MetalCure® U30 series will be available starting April 1, 2024, with four process colors (CMYK) and opaque white. Z base colors for mixing systems are expected to be available from May or June.

“With this new ink series, we believe we are introducing a highly competitive product that excels in technical performance,” a spokesperson stated.
