Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has introduced IntegoBag, a new solution designed for the construction industry. The paper bag aims to replace traditional paper bags by using a free film barrier layer, which simplifies recycling and helps preserve the shelf life of building materials.
IntegoBag incorporates Mondi’s FunctionalBarrier Paper, which provides the required moisture protection while significantly reducing plastic content in the packaging. The solution is produced entirely in-house, from kraft paper made with responsibly sourced fibers to bag conversion, leveraging Mondi’s integrated value chain.
“We collaborated with leading companies in the construction industry, such as Saint-Gobain, to ensure that our new solution fits specific industry needs and creates value for all partners,” said Mauro Vitali, Sales Manager for Paper Bags Italy at Mondi. “IntegoBag helps our customers stay ahead of regulatory requirements while reducing waste.”
The new packaging solution reduces plastic content by up to 50% and offers good printability, available in both bleached and unbleached options. The bags can hold up to 25kg and are available in standard sizes. IntegoBag is also certified recyclable, based on testing in Mondi’s recycling laboratory, and has achieved high scores in industry evaluations, including a 19 out of 20 points certification from Interseroh+.
IntegoBag is part of Mondi’s broader sustainability strategy outlined in its MAP2030 plan, aiming to support a circular economy through the development of recyclable, reusable, or compostable packaging. The product has already garnered industry recognition, having been nominated for the Austrian Green Star Packaging Award and shortlisted for the UK Sustainability Award.
