LuLu, Mastercard, and Unilever Launch Sustainable Initiative at COP28

LuLu, Mastercard, and Unilever have unveiled a pioneering collaboration at COP28 to encourage and reward consumers for making sustainable choices. The initiative supports the Mastercard Priceless Planet Coalition’s tree restoration, emphasizing mangrove restoration in the UAE.

 

In a signing ceremony at COP28, LuLu Group’s Executive Director, Ashraf Ali M A, Khalil Yassine of Unilever Arabia, and Amnah Ajmal of Mastercard EEMEA formalized the partnership, attended by UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri and Yusuf Ali M A, Chairman of LuLu Group.

 

According to a news published by Khaleej Times, UAE, LuLu will educate and incentivize consumers for sustainable purchases, while Unilever engages consumers through its brands, funding mangrove restoration via the Priceless Planet Coalition. This coalition, overseen by Mastercard’s partners Conservation International and World Resources Institute, aims to restore 100 million trees.

 

Khalil Yassine highlighted the collaboration’s significance, stating, “We are delighted to partner with LuLu and Mastercard at COP28, rewarding sustainable product choices with mangrove restoration in the UAE.”

 

Amnah Ajmal from Mastercard added, “The power of collaboration remains one of the most meaningful ways to drive impact. We look forward to working with Unilever and LuLu to support environmental sustainability and climate action.”
