The global leader in packaging and bottling solutions, Krones Group, has announced the discontinuation of its digital container-decoration division, slated to conclude by December 31, 2023. This strategic decision arrives after a meticulous evaluation of business strategies and the prevailing market dynamics.
Despite the successful operation of Dekron GmbH’s cutting-edge container decoration machines across various client sites, this move aligns with Krones’ comprehensive reassessment of its business objectives. In November, Dekron proactively communicated this development to its employees, clients, suppliers, and associates.
Effective from 2024, Krones AG will assume responsibility for all service support required for existing lines. Dekron GmbH, a subsidiary that has specialized in producing machines from the DecoType series for digitally adorning glass, PET, and HDPE containers since 2018, will be winding down its operations.
KIC Krones, a subsidiary responsible for supplying UV inks compatible with Dekron’s machinery, has represented a combined effort pooling Krones’ development initiatives and the business functions of Till GmbH, in which Krones obtained a majority stake in 2014.
The impending closure of the Kelkheim facility, along with the liquidation of Till GmbH by December 31, 2023, marks the conclusion of this phase-out. A mutually agreed reconciliation of interests has been successfully negotiated with the entirety of the staff.
This strategic realignment emphasizes Krones’ commitment to recalibrating its operational focus while ensuring continued support and service excellence for its existing clientele through the proficient service technicians of Krones AG.
