The Kongsberg Ultimate, a cutting-edge system launched by Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) six months ago, has received the PRINTING United Alliance 2024 Pinnacle Product Award in the Lasers/Routers/Cutters (4’ x 8’ or larger) category. This is the second award the technology has earned within a month, following its recognition at drupa with the EDP Award for Best Wide Format Cutting Solution.

The Pinnacle Product Award competition, open to all PRINTING United Alliance supplier members, evaluates products that will be available for sale in 2024. The judges, consisting of industry experts, assessed over 160 entries in this year’s contest.
The Kongsberg Ultimate is designed to meet the increasing global demand for faster, safer, and more efficient corrugated production. “Showcasing it worldwide, customers are impressed by its acceleration rate of up to 2.74G and cutting speed of 168 meters per minute,” Fox stated. “This digital cutting platform offers unparalleled productivity, precision, and safety, providing converters with a significant competitive advantage.”
Key technical innovations contribute to the Kongsberg Ultimate’s performance. The Kongsberg PrecisionDrive™ system, with a high-torque motor and rack and pinion setup, allows for unmatched acceleration and cutting speeds. Its traverse, made from a single filament of carbon, ensures strength and minimal bending under 50 kg downforce. The Kongsberg SmartZone™ dual-zone safety system enhances safety by monitoring the table’s surroundings, slowing it down when the operator is near and pausing it when even closer.
