Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) showcased its latest automation innovation at Drupa, emphasizing its dedication to developing digital solutions that enhance productivity.
The upgraded Kongsberg Feeder & Stacker v1.2 features a larger vacuum plenum plate and new features that reduce setup time and manual adjustments, minimizing downtime and increasing throughput.
Nimil David, Kongsberg PCS Product Manager for Automation and Robotics, introduced the updated machine at Messe Düsseldorf, describing it as ‘one of the most advanced automated sheet handling solutions for large format digital finishing.’
“The Feeder & Stacker was developed specifically as a pallet-to-pallet solution to seamlessly increase productivity,” said Nimil. “It’s combined automatic loading and unloading significantly speeds up short-run production by eliminating one of the most common bottlenecks in the process, removing the need for operators to manually handle materials and enabling continuous production. With this updated version we have maximized the plenum plate size and reduced other components to deliver optimum efficiency during loading and unloading.”
The new Feeder & Stacker offers an active coverage area of over 95%, eliminating the need for plenum plate adjustments for each job, improving setup, and further enhancing production efficiency. The system’s advanced vacuum system, ease of use, and improved reliability were highlighted as key features benefiting productivity and operational continuity.
“The removal of any manual handling between steps not only increases speed and accuracy of locating and removing materials but also eliminates any chance of human error that can lead to damage and costly errors. These latest advances in our Feeder & Stacker technology serve to deliver an automation solution specifically designed to address these pain points and empower converters to maximize throughput,” said Nimil.
With the ability to handle sheet sizes up to 3200 x 1600mm/126 x 63in and all typical packaging and display materials, the Kongsberg Feeder & Stacker minimizes pallet changes and ensures continuous material handling. The system ensures no damage to the board or print as it moves to the cutting table, delivering consistent production with the next step in the workflow.
Nimil also previewed the company’s new seven-axis, rail-mounted Robotic Material Handler system, showcasing Kongsberg PCS’s commitment to automation and innovative solutions for businesses.
