Komori Corporation has announced its withdrawal from participation in the rescheduled Drupa event due to abiding concerns over the coronavirus crisis.
Drupa, the largest equipment fair on the print industry calendar, postponed this year’s event as the pandemic grew. It will now go ahead on April 20-30, 2021, in Dusseldorf, but will do so without Komori, the Japan-based press manufacturer.
Citing existing economic impacts and health concerns, as well as the uncertainty surrounding any potential second surge in cases, Komori has stepped aside in order to place its highest priority on securing the safety of its customers and employees.
Even so, Komori still intends to proceed with product launches that were scheduled to be unveiled at Drupa. These products will debut at open house events and regional exhibitions, and further information will be released through corporate websites, information and video distribution service using emails or SNS, online exhibitions and webinars.
For example, Komori’s Connected Automation process, which promises to revolutionise labour productivity in the printing industry, will be realized with the launch of KP-Connect, an open platform connecting various machines including offset and digital printing systems equipped with latest automation technologies. It also provides new values through its role as an important remote communication tool between customers and the company.
While Komori is disappointed to miss Drupa, the company said in a statement: “Komori is committed to continue providing the best service, products and technical solutions from the customer’s perspective. We appreciate your continued patronage.”
