Koenig & Bauer has introduced the MetJET ONE, the first digital printing press integrated into a production line for metal decorating. This innovation, developed by Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, aims to provide a seamless and flexible entry into digital printing. The MetJET ONE will undergo a field test in early 2025 in collaboration with Reynolds Services, Inc. (RSI).
The MetJET ONE combines established components from digital printing and metal decoration sheet handling. The sheet handling system is crafted by Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, while the integrated inkjet technology originates from Durst, a leader in digital printing.
“The MetJET ONE makes it as easy as possible for our customers to enter the world of digitally printed metal packaging,” said Samuel Teufel, Product Manager at Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint. “The unique design enables us to create a customised solution that fits the flexibility and print quality requirements of our customers in the metal packaging industry.”
The MetJET ONE offers a notable price-performance ratio and exceptional print quality, setting new standards in metal decoration. Its modular design allows for tailored configuration of the production line to meet industry demands. Additional features from Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint’s portfolio, such as the MetalCoat coating machine, inspection transport, and sheet management systems, enhance efficiency and profitability.
The upcoming field test at RSI is a critical phase to evaluate the MetJET ONE’s performance in real-world conditions. John Frangakis, CEO at Reynolds Services, Inc., expressed optimism about the collaboration: “We are delighted to be working with Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint on the new MetJET ONE. We are convinced that this digital printing solution will enable us to realise customised prints in very short runs.”
The MetJET ONE represents a significant advancement in metal decorating technology, poised to redefine industry standards with its innovative features and capabilities.
