Global Sustainability Leaders honored at drupa 2024.

Koenig & Bauer, a prominent name in the printing industry, presented the Green Dot Award at drupa on 31 May 2024, recognizing industry managers for their remarkable contributions to sustainability. This year’s award went to Richard Lim, COO of the Hung Hing Printing Group, with José Luis Bezaury, CEO of Litoplas Packaging, and David Hsieh, President of the Max Fame Group, also receiving accolades for their efforts.

Dr. Andreas Pleßke, CEO of Koenig & Bauer, emphasized the increasing importance of sustainability in the print industry, stating that there is no conflict between sustainability and profitability. He highlighted the significance of sustainability to their customers worldwide and expressed their commitment to promoting sustainable practices through the Green Dot Award.

“The topic of sustainability continues to gain significance among our worldwide customers. And with the Green Dot Award, our intention is to keep promoting this development,” said Dr. Pleßke.

The Green Dot Award aims to honor industry managers who have demonstrated innovative approaches to sustainable printing. Winners not only receive a prize of 10,000 euros but also have an additional 10,000 euros donated to a sustainability project of their choice.

Richard Lim, COO of the Hung Hing Printing Group, expressed his delight at receiving the award and the accompanying prize money, stating, “I am delighted to receive both the award and the accompanying prize money totaling 20,000 euros, of which 10,000 euros will be donated to a sustainability project of my choice.”

Lim’s Hung Hing Printing Group, a leading print solutions provider in Asia, focuses on electrification and self-produced electricity from PV installations as part of its ‘decarbonization journey.’ Litoplas Packaging, under José Luis Bezaury’s leadership, emphasizes sustainability as a key element of its quality excellence philosophy, participating in the UN Global Compact initiative and prioritizing resource efficiency.

David Hsieh’s Max Fame Group, with operations in China, Vietnam, Thailand, and the UK, specializes in sustainable packaging production. They contribute to environmental protection through in-house power generation with PV arrays, energy-efficient machinery, and climate-friendly transport solutions.

The Green Dot Award’s multi-stage selection process involves Koenig & Bauer’s global sales and service experts submitting proposals with best practice examples from sustainability projects. The final winners are decided through an anonymous online vote among Koenig & Bauer’s worldwide managers.

The Green Dot Award underscores Koenig & Bauer’s commitment to supporting its customers’ sustainability efforts with eco-components and energy-efficient solutions, while also highlighting the importance of sustainability in the print industry.
