Jindal Films Europe announces commitment to launch 5-10 sustainable packaging innovations annually

Jindal Films Europe leads the way in sustainable flexible packaging with innovative, recyclable film solutions.

Jindal Films Europe (JFE), part of the USD 2.5 billion B.C. Jindal Group, has committed to launching 5-10 new films each year focused on sustainable solutions for the flexible packaging sector. This initiative aligns with growing consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging and positions JFE at the forefront of sustainability efforts in the industry.

The company emphasizes its ongoing investments in research and development, aiming to produce recyclable films that meet market demands while minimizing environmental impact. “At JFE, we are not just responding to the sustainability challenge; we are actively shaping the future of flexible packaging,” said Manfred Kaufmann, CEO.

JFE’s innovations include multi-layer films available in various forms, such as transparent, metalized, and coated varieties, with advancements in BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) films. The company has also introduced a new BOPE (bi-oriented polyethylene) platform under the Ethy-Lyte trademark, designed to replace PET films in lamination with PE sealants for mono-PE recyclable structures. The range is set to expand with new barrier films for duplex and triplex packaging structures.

In addition to product innovation, JFE is reducing its carbon footprint through energy-efficient manufacturing processes, including the installation of a solar plant at its Brindisi site in Italy. “We’re constantly looking for ways to make our manufacturing processes more environmentally friendly,” a spokesperson noted.

As part of its broader commitment to sustainability, JFE actively participates in CEFLEX, a European consortium focused on advancing the circular economy. The company aims to design easily sortable and recyclable packaging, using mono-material solutions that can replace materials like aluminum foil or PET films.

Through ongoing innovation, collaboration with customers, and industry partnerships, JFE continues to drive sustainability in the flexible packaging sector.
