Grafiche Esposti, a printer and photolithographer based in Mantua, has invested in Kodak Sonora process-free plates in a format of up to 2 square metres for display stands.
Kodak has hailed the application of the very large format plates as “a sector first”.
Grafiche Esposti was looking to combine colour fidelity and high-quality images with more sustainable print production processes, according to Kodak.
The Italian firm already uses a Kodak Prinergy workflow system in its pre-press and recently invested in a Kodak Trendsetter VLF platesetter featuring SquareSpot imaging technology.
For display stands, the firm will now use 0.4mm (0.15″) Kodak Sonora XP process-free plates in formats of up to 2sqm (21.52sqft).
Silvano Finelli, owner of a Kodak plate distributor, said colour fidelity is crucial for display stands.
“The Kodak Trendsetter Platesetter and the Kodak Sonora XP Process Free Plates ensure this,” he said.
“There is no chemical processing because the thermal plate is process free and the screening on the plate is clean and unaltered, rendering printed images of better quality than those from processed plates.”
Marco Esposti, technical and creative director of Grafiche Esposti, said customers have responded well to stands made with the Sonora XP plates.
“Our customers are not only satisfied with the quality of the results, many brands are highly conscious of the environment so they also greatly appreciate the fact that their displays are printed using plates with a low environmental impact,” he said.
“This is especially important in the food sector. For us it is a value added factor that is sure to attract new customers.”
