Hybrid Software unveils direct interface for Canon’s LabelStream LS2000

Configuration of Canon output settings within the PACKZ LS2000 interface.

Hybrid Software has announced a new direct interface to Canon’s upcoming LabelStream LS2000 digital label press. The interface will be demonstrated at Labelexpo Americas 2024, taking place from September 10-12 in Rosemont, IL.

The latest Version 10 of Hybrid Software’s PACKZ PDF editor for packaging prepress now supports a direct connection to the LabelStream LS2000. This development builds on Hybrid Software’s previous collaboration with Canon for their LabelStream LS4000 press, providing automation and workflow integration. The new interface, co-developed by Hybrid Software and Canon, is designed to meet the specifications of the LS2000 and is integrated directly into PACKZ.

Patrick Coussement, CTO of Hybrid Software, explained the software’s functionality: “PACKZ serves two key roles in prepress for labels and packaging. It allows operators to edit PDF artwork to ensure accurate color mapping, correct bleeds, and variable data linking, followed by a step-and-repeat layout for creating print-ready files. Supporting direct output to the LabelStream LS2000 is a natural extension for PACKZ, streamlining workflow for our mutual customers.”

Shinichi “Sam” Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager of Canon U.S.A., Inc., said, “We are excited to preview the LabelStream LS2000 inkjet press at Labelexpo Americas, showcasing how it meets the evolving demands for high-quality, digital label production.”

The LabelStream LS2000 is still under development, with no confirmed availability for sale in the Americas. Specifications may change, and the product has not yet been authorized for sale under FCC rules.
