Hotpack Packaging Industries has officially launched an integrated factory and logistics complex at Dubai Investment Park (DIP) following an investment of AED 100m.
Abdul Jabbar PB, managing director of Hotpack Packaging, also known as Majid Plastics, described the new facility as “a one-of-its-kind industrial infrastructure in the region”.
“We hope the facility will help us continue and enhance the delivery of the best quality standards on time in our core business of food packaging solutions to our customers on a larger scale,” he said.
“The new integrated facility, certified by ISO and ESMA, will be manufacturing several varieties of plastic, paper and aluminium products to cater to the food service industry, while complying with the highest global standards of quality and hygiene as well as abiding by the recommendations for sustainable practice.”
Hotpack, which deals with more than 1,700 products, operates four factories in the UAE and one in India as well as 15 distribution centres across the GCC region.
The company will soon open additional branches in Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, said Jabbar.
Another integrated factory and logistic centre will also open soon in Abu Dhabi at ICAD City and another in Qatar.
“Our mission is to become No.1 in the field of disposable food packaging and related products in the continent,” he said.
Zainudeen PB, group general manager for Hotpack Packaging Industries, said the company expects to increase its business and turnover.
“The decision to initiate the production and logistics infrastructure comes as part of our efforts to meet the ever-increasing demand for our range of products in the food service support segment,” he said.
“This integrated facility has been set up to supplement and expand our current production lines in the UAE and further boost our already strong supply network across the Gulf and African region and beyond. We will be able to maintain the highest standards in line with the increasing demand for hygienic food packaging products.”
DIP was picked as the location for the plant for its strategic positioning “in the global industrial map”, said Zainudeen.
“We hope the DIP’s close proximity to the Jebel Ali port and Al Maktoum International Airport, coupled with the easy access to major highways of the UAE, will enable us to capitalise on the opportunities emerging from multiple industry segments and further develop our supply chain,” he added.
“We have implemented a highly innovative and integrated WMS [warehouse management software] system for the new logistic division. It will give us prompt and accurate control over the stock and our supply chain. We have also set up a highly competent VNA [very narrow aisle] selective pallet racking system to handle the products and manage the high storage requirements.”
The facility can handle up to 18 trucks simultaneously at its automatic docking stations, he added.
Hotpack Packaging Industries (Majid Plastics Group) was established in Dubai, UAE, in 1995 as a company for manufacturing, marketing and distributing food packaging materials and related products made of plastic, aluminum, foam and paper through its own manufacturing facilities, which were located in Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Mussaffa-Abu Dhabi.
