Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Private Limited has completed Phase III of its manufacturing facility in Kurkumbh, near Pune. The expanded site, which began operations in 2020, is designed to meet the increasing demand for adhesives, sealants, and surface treatment products in the Indian market.

The new Loctite plant, named after Henkel’s established brand, was inaugurated by Mark Dorn, Executive Vice President of Henkel Adhesive Technologies, alongside senior company executives. Dorn emphasized the strategic importance of the Indian market, stating, “India has emerged as a focus market for Henkel globally. The new Loctite plant highlights our vision to emerge in the country as a self-reliant global market player with a strong local presence.”

Henkel, which entered the Indian market in 1996, now operates five manufacturing sites, two innovation centers, a customer experience center, a packaging academy, and an application center for the footwear industry in the country. The new plant is expected to enhance local production capabilities, reduce reliance on imports, and address the supply-demand gap for high-performance adhesive solutions in various sectors, including manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and automotive components.

The Kurkumbh facility is LEED Gold certified and reflects Henkel’s commitment to sustainability. The site is set to achieve carbon-neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, supported by a green energy agreement and on-site solar panels.

S. Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India, highlighted the plant’s advanced features, including an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) that improves material handling efficiency. “The expansion of our manufacturing footprint reinforces Henkel’s sustained commitment to making India a hub for advanced adhesive solutions,” Kumar said, noting the plant’s role in supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
