Heidelberg has announced a significant recovery in incoming orders following its participation in the drupa trade fair in Düsseldorf. The event attracted a global audience, resulting in a surge of orders and increased production capacity utilization, allowing HEIDELBERG to end short-time work at its German sites by June 2024.

“Our drupa team impressed customers with a remarkable stand and forward-thinking innovations,” said Dr. David Schmedding, Head of Sales and Marketing. “The positive response from both customers and staff was incredible. The large number of orders placed across all technologies during the trade show emphasizes our customers’ trust in Heidelberg as a leading system provider.”

Daily presentations highlighted numerous innovations in commercial and packaging printing, showcasing how customers can leverage state-of-the-art technologies to enhance their business potential. Schmedding added, “We offer the entire spectrum – from toner to inkjet and from offset to flexo printing – all controlled from a common Prinect workflow.”

Heidelberg also announced its collaboration with Canon at drupa, aiming to expand its growth potential in inkjet printing. Orders in the mid-double-digit range have already been placed for the new Jetfire 50 inkjet system. This new product portfolio targets the increasing demand in the commercial printing sector for industrial inkjet production. HEIDELBERG’s Gallus Labelfire and Gallus One for label printing have already demonstrated successful inkjet solutions for industrial applications.

The company showcased end-to-end solutions supporting both offset and digital printing at drupa, ensuring maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness. By combining its offset and digital printing expertise, Heidelberg aims to provide customers with a hybrid solution for optimal cost-efficiency.

In the packaging segment, Heidelberg plans to expand applications for the new Boardmaster inline flexographic web printing machine to include flexible paper packaging. This move addresses the growing global demand for sustainable, cost-effective, recyclable, or compostable packaging.
