Gulfood Manufacturing (GFM) 2024 marks a milestone 10th edition, shaping the food and beverage manufacturing sector in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Scheduled for November 5-7 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event will feature over 2,500 companies from 72 countries, showcasing cutting-edge technologies that are set to transform the F&B industry.
As the Official Media Partner, Packaging MEA will deliver critical insights into the latest trends, technologies, automation, innovations, and sustainability in F&B packaging, emphasizing the move towards a circular economy.
Ben Daniel, Chief Editor of Packaging MEA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are excited to showcase innovative solutions that will highlight groundbreaking advancements in the industry.”
Growth in Food & Beverage Packaging
The MEA region’s food and beverage packaging sector is rapidly growing, driven by urbanization, rising consumer demand, and a stronger focus on sustainability. Valued at USD 28 billion in 2021, the region’s packaging market is expected to surpass USD 35 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 5%. With urban populations set to reach 70% by 2025, demand for packaged foods, especially ready-to-eat and on-the-go products, will continue to rise.
Sustainable packaging is a top priority, with nearly 60% of consumers favoring eco-friendly solutions. However, challenges persist in recycling, as only 10% of plastic packaging is currently recycled in the region. GFM 2024 will highlight packaging innovations, including smart packaging that provides real-time product freshness and safety data.
Innovation at the Core
Gulfood Manufacturing 2024 will offer a platform to explore innovations like AI-driven ingredients and biofortified foods. The Food Tech Summit will feature over 100 speakers, including Samuel Sigrist, Global CEO of SIG, and Alvaro Martinez, Regional CEO of GEA Group, discussing emerging trends and sustainability. The summit will focus on improving efficiency, traceability, and safety across the supply chain, with sustainability as a key theme.
Notable packaging exhibitors include Tetra Pak, Al Sharq Flexible Packaging Factories, NAPCO National, Krones AG, and Hotpack Packaging Industries, showcasing advanced technologies that address flexible packaging, automation, and smart labeling.
A Decade of Excellence
As GFM celebrates its 10th edition, it remains a key platform for forging partnerships and unveiling innovations. This year’s edition will feature a curated Innovation Tour and the new “Hall of Fame,” highlighting transformative industry contributions from the past decade.
Reflecting on the event’s significance, Ben Daniel remarked, “This year’s edition is a testament to the evolution of the food manufacturing industry, especially in packaging. We are proud to be part of this journey.”
