The 10th edition of Gulfood Manufacturing and Gulfhost 2024 wrapped up on 7th November at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), marking a successful event for professionals in the food manufacturing and hospitality industries. The co-located exhibitions attracted thousands of industry leaders from around the world, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and providing a platform for networking and business deal-making.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, officially opened the event on 5th November, accompanied by His Excellency Helal Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. The event offered a comprehensive view of the food manufacturing ecosystem, from food processing to packaging and hospitality solutions.
The FoodTech Summit, a key feature of Gulfood Manufacturing, saw experts like Dr. Mark van Rijmenam, a strategic futurist, discuss the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the food sector. Dr. van Rijmenam emphasized that AI could contribute $20 trillion to global GDP by 2030, citing its potential to enhance automation, predictive maintenance, and operational efficiencies within food manufacturing.
International participation was also a highlight, with over 2,500 brands from 72 countries. France showcased the innovative spirit of 62 exhibitors in food processing and hospitality solutions, while Pakistan’s presence focused on its export potential, particularly in rice and sesame seeds. Zubair Motiwala, CEO of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, noted strong interest from buyers and discussed plans to expand the country’s participation in future editions.
Italy, a dominant player in the packaging machinery sector, recorded a 78.4% increase in packaging machine exports to the UAE in the first half of 2024. At Gulfood Manufacturing, Italian companies presented cutting-edge packaging solutions, with Lorenzo Fanara, Italy’s Ambassador to the UAE, underscoring the growing demand for advanced packaging technologies.
Jordan’s food and packaging industries also attracted attention, with the Jordanian Exporters Association (JEA) organizing a pavilion showcasing sustainable packaging solutions. Senator Ahmad Khudari, Chairman of JEA, highlighted the growing interest in Jordan’s expertise in food-grade materials, while Halim Abu Rahmeh, Director General of JEA, emphasized the event’s role in supporting Jordan’s export goals and enhancing its position in global markets.
The exhibitions concluded with valuable discussions and exhibitions across nearly 3,000 brands, reinforcing the importance of Gulfood Manufacturing and Gulfhost as premier events for the food, beverage, and hospitality sectors.
