Global packaging company Elopak has achieved an A+ rating for its exemplary Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, as recognized by sustainability consultancy Position Green. This accolade positions Elopak among the top 5% of evaluated companies.
Position Green’s ESG100 analysis delves into the extent to which ESG reporting from the 100 largest publicly listed firms in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway furnishes valuable financial and non-financial insights for decision-makers. The latest ESG100 report, in its sixth edition, scrutinizes the readiness of the 300 participating companies for the impending implementation of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), slated for January 1, 2024.
Marianne Groven, Director of Sustainability at Elopak, expressed pride in the A+ rating but underscored the importance of translating reporting into tangible actions, stating, “We are incredibly proud to have been awarded an A+ grade. However, reporting is not the only part of the picture; we must also deliver on our goals, which is what we are working on going forward.”
The A+ rating stands as the highest designation conferred by the ESG100, signifying Elopak’s place among the top 5% of companies in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark for ESG reporting. In Norway, Elopak secured the fifth position, with the nation boasting the highest proportion of companies achieving an A+ ESG grade.
Elopak has been steadfast in its sustainability journey, formally committing in 2019 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to help limit global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius, in alignment with the criteria established by the Science Based Targets initiative. In 2022, Elopak became one of the early adopters to establish Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)-approved targets, aiming to become a net-zero company by 2050. Additionally, the company is actively engaged as a participant member of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, contributing to sustainability advancement and collaborative efforts toward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
