Domino unveils 1200dpi Hybrid Printing Module and Print Inspection System

Domino’s N730i Integration Module delivers high-resolution digital printing with precision and speed, revolutionizing hybrid printing solutions.

Domino Printing Sciences has launched a new 1200dpi digital print engine designed for integration into flexographic printing lines, addressing the increasing demand for hybrid printing solutions. The N730i Integration Module, based on Domino’s Generation 7 platform, enables label converters to achieve high-resolution digital printing at high speeds, including variable data applications.

Michael Matthews, Product Manager for Digital Colour at Domino, said, “Brands are asking for high-quality labels with quick turnaround times, and we set out to provide converters with a leading digital hybrid printing solution that offers a competitive edge.” The modular design of the N730i allows converters to work with their preferred OEM partner to create customized hybrid printing and finishing systems, offering flexibility and cost-efficiency.

The N730i utilizes Domino’s i-Tech features, BITSTARTM printhead technology, and TPO-free inks, ensuring the production of fine details and high-quality print, including micro text and CJK characters. The print engine delivers 1200dpi resolution at speeds of up to 70 meters per minute, including reliable high-opacity white printing.

In addition, the N730i’s Sunrise DFE supports real-time inline RIP for labels with variable data, simplifying multi-SKU print runs without the need for offline preparation. Matthews added, “We are excited to collaborate with customers and OEM partners to combine Domino’s digital technology with flexographic printing, providing greater flexibility and efficiency to converters.”

Also unveiled at Labelexpo Americas was the R-Scan print inspection system, developed in collaboration with Lake Image Systems, a Domino Group Company. The R-Scan system offers automated monitoring of print quality and variable data, helping converters reduce waste, rework, and downtime, thus improving overall equipment effectiveness.

Matthews emphasized the benefits of the system, stating, “The R-Scan ensures converters can meet high-quality label production standards, improving production efficiency with minimal supervision.” Tony McNulty, Chief Product Officer at Domino, added, “This collaboration with Lake Image Systems enables us to offer integrated solutions that ensure consistent quality with minimal waste.”
