Meeting the press

An MPS EF 430, the first MPS flexo press installed in the region, was the star of an open house event at Hexxa Flexible Packaging’s facility in Ras al Khaimah

An open house event hosted by Ras al Khaimah-based Hexxa Flexible Packaging on 24–25 January gave packaging printers a chance to see the region’s first installed MPS flexo press: an MPS EF 430.

For MPS, the occasion was a chance to demonstrate the machine’s “versatility and perfect register control”. The manufacturer stressed its “operator focused” and “results driven” approach to the more than 35 labels and flexible packaging converters who attended.

The MPS EF 430 flexopress’s automated print-pressure settings and its ability to reduce reliance on the operator is very interesting.

MPS’s automated Print Control (aPC), which provides automated servo control of all relevant press settings, is also something that i liked. The print quality on multiple substrates was quite good as well.”

The concept of having an open house in a packaging printer’s facility and inviting customers to see the machine over there is something new to our region and i really appreciate the magnanimous gesture from Hexxa Flexibles.

i hope this trend gets replicated in the future from other companies as well.

The MPS EF press’s ability to handle and print quality jobs on multi-substrates for both label production and flexible packaging printing is impressive.

Also, as our market is driven by temperature-sensitive substrate of varying thickness, the ability of this press to print on such substrates is impressive.

Also very interesting is its quick changeover, its automation, and its gearless technology – having no connection between the plate roller and the impression cylinder helps in attaining friction-free rotation, resulting in there being no gear marking. i find no limitations in it as a press. as this is the first press of its kind we are seeing in our region, we need to see how it performs in the long run.
