Insoft Automation India, the software specialist introduced an IMP App for the Middle East market with a knowledge sharing event held recently. IMP is a layout planning software.
Among many contributions to printing along with invention of printing press that revolutionised book production, was in planning exact size and sequence of pages for Gutenberg’s Bible.
“A new stage was born and applied print layout planning,” said Santosh Mulay vice president Insoft Automation India.
Over 25 years back, many application software enabled manual imposition and nesting process to digital and remained more or less stagnant. But following the slowdown in economy in the year 2008, market dynamics changed. Price war became standard and printers had to produce more in existing setup to remain in business.
It was at this time that InSoft Automation, a software development company, based out of Chennai, India launched its cost-based layout planning software IMP in 2011. “We adopted new methodology and gave a set new direction thereby enabling printers to dramatically cut down their cost of production with optimised layouts from IMP software,” said Mulay.
IMP software’s algorithms shrink job-production times from hours to minutes, eliminate steps, reduce labour costs, and increase productivity.
The software accepts multiple technical inputs for a job and in seconds dynamically calculates optimal layouts, estimates costs on various output devices from pre-press to finishing, and recommends which output device to employ. Job estimates are calculated in seconds, and accurate layouts can be used throughout the production process, including variable sheet cut offs, step and repeat applications, die cutting, foil stamping, and embossing.
IMP is an extremely powerful planning/imposition and flexible estimation software.

InSoft has a large clientele in Europe and Americas.
Leading experts from the packaging print industry spoke on how IMP is not only unique as a standalone product, but open to integrating with MIS and ERP solutions with ease. “The seminar was unique in a way that the focus was not on any single product but on challenges faced by the industry and path to identify and choose the software solutions that simplifies complexity and help grow business,” said Mulay.
Harsha Paruchuri, director, Pragati Group, spoke on the topic – Choosing MIS/ERP solutions and integrating innovations. One of the accomplishments of Pragati was the successful implementation and use of SAP-ERP. His presentation gave the delegates a vivid insight into the deployment of Insoft’s IMP software solutions for optimising resources and better business management.
Vijayandhran Ganesan, chief technology officer at Express Pack Print, said,
“IMP is an extremely powerful planning/imposition and flexible estimation software. This integrates with existing ERP system through xml, and planning is based on live existing stock / custom size that could be on order”.
InSoft is a recipient of InterTech Technology Award by Printing Industries of America and it hopes that the IMP software will benefit to the print industry in Middle East as it did for printers in Europe and America.
