New products at Interpack include additions to the Extendo range and to the bio-based Nativia portfolio
Dubai Taghleef Industries (Ti) debuted several products at the Interpack expo on 4–10 May in Düsseldorf. Patrick Desies, chief sales and marketing officer at Taghleef Industries, said the products “represent the results of our investment activities over the past few years as we pursue our dedication to providing the highest quality and most reliable films to the packaging industry”.
The Extendo range of high-barrier films with aroma and mineral oil barriers gained two new products. Extendo XMMH film with a matte finish can be used to protect products such as flour, pasta, rice, dehydrated peas, and cereals. Extendo XZRH white voided metallised film for ultra-high gas barrier can be used for food, medical, and consumer applications. It is ideal for replacing aluminium foil and reducing packaging waste, while making recycling easier, according to Ti.
Also on display was the XFWL mediumbarrier film for flow wrap applications for biscuits, confectionery, bread and presliced deli meats, with specially designed slip properties and a wide heat seal range.
The Nativia range of bio-based and industrially compostable films featured at the show with its newest addition. The range is made from 100% renewable raw materials such as corn, sugar cane, potatoes or any other source of starch or sugar. The bio-based films come in a variety of aesthetic appearances such as transparent, solid white, and white voided, said Ti.
Nativia NESS, the latest addition to the range, is a white voided film containing second-generation starch derived from waste water of the potato processing industry. This film recently helped Taghleef, along with Mars, Rodenburg, and Mondi, win the 11th Global Bioplastics Award for a chocolate bar wrapper.
