Thermoformed T capsules provide a oxygen barrier to protect tea for 12 months
Nestlé Special T has launched a publicity campaign with leading German actress Diane Kruger for new tea capsules developed and produced by RPC Bebo Bouxwiller.
Special T offers a choice of 35 different speciality teas and infusions which can be quickly prepared in the Special T machine for a perfectly brewed cup every time.
The thermoformed capsules in multilayer barrier polypropylene/EVOH/ polypropylene were developed by the R&D teams of Nestlé STC at Orbe and RPC Bebo Bouxwiller.
“After many months of development, these new products meet the different requirements specified by Nestlé: an oxygen barrier to retain the properties of the tea for 12 months, six different colours in a high-quality reflective aluminium appearance, and a deformation resistance to sustain the practicality of the machine while reducing packaging weight,” said Thierry Bernet, head of new product and process development at RPC Bebo.
Frédéric Doléac, head of capsule system development at Nestlé, said, “The exceptional collaboration between the teams at RPC Bebo Bouxwiller and Nestlé STC Orbe enabled them to achieve the deadlines set for the launch of the products in new distribution channels.”
This development also illustrates the technical and aesthetic properties of plastic.
