Cosmo launches BOPP-based low-noise tape film

Proprietary surface treatment enables easy release, making tape unwinding quieter

Delhi Cosmo Films, a leading manufacturer of speciality BOPP films, has launched a low-noise tape film for making low-noise tapes.

The BOPP-based low noise tape film’s proprietary release surface treatment enables easy release, generating low noise on unwinding. This feature becomes extremely significant in industrial settings where packing is carried at relatively high speeds with several packing lines and with auto dispensing machines.

In most developed countries, factory guidelines require manufacturers to adhere to low decibel levels, increasing the value of low-noise tapes, said the manufacturer.

The low-noise tape film requires significantly less release force than normal tape film and can easily take up any adhesive, whether water based, solvent based, rubber based, or hot melt type, said the company.

The tape film is also not significantly more expensive than established products, according to Cosmo Films.

In most applications, printing on the film takes place on the other side of the release coating but the release side could also be made printable, said the company.

“We had devised the film for one of our tape customers,” said S Satish, global head for sales and marketing. “However, we see huge potential for the film going forward as we see this feature as a great value add. The product is available in clear and ultra-clear varieties and could be made available in different microns.”
