Crown Holdings leads Sustainalytics’ Containers & Packaging category in Sustainability Performance

Crown Holdings achieves top sustainability ranking in Containers & Packaging category, recognized by Sustainalytics for comprehensive Twentyby30™ program.

In the latest ESG Risk Rating by Sustainalytics, Crown Holdings, Inc. has emerged as the top performer in the Containers & Packaging category. The assessment, which evaluates corporate sustainability across various metrics, places Crown ahead of 105 peer organizations. Notably, Crown is among the mere 3% of over 16,200 assessed companies to achieve an overall Negligible risk score.

Sustainalytics’ evaluation highlights Crown’s strong performance in sustainability through its comprehensive Twentyby30™ program. This initiative, aimed at achieving 20 sustainability goals by 2030, underscores Crown’s commitment to addressing critical industry concerns.

John Rost, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Crown Technology, Global Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs, emphasized the significance of this recognition: “Receiving a top industry ranking from Sustainalytics acknowledges Crown’s efforts to meet stakeholder expectations and drive comprehensive sustainability across our operations.”

The assessment considers Crown’s management of sustainability risks specific to the packaging sector, including areas like emissions, waste management, and resource use. Crown’s proactive approach in these areas reflects its readiness to navigate evolving regulatory landscapes and uphold responsible business practices.

Rost further noted, “Our strong performance across multiple categories, from safety to governance, demonstrates our commitment to sustainable operations and long-term organizational health.”

Moving forward, Crown continues to advance its sustainability agenda by increasing renewable electricity usage, launching new water replenishment projects, and enhancing recycling efforts across its supply chain for aluminum and steel cans.

Crown’s leadership in sustainability within the packaging industry not only reinforces its operational resilience but also positions it favorably among stakeholders, including customers, partners, and investors seeking sustainable business practices.
