Canon unveils ‘The Core’ multisensory print experience at drupa 2024

Experience the Future: PRISMAelevate XL software enhances prints with textures up to 4mm high, ideal for innovative interior décor and retail applications.

Canon is currently presenting its advanced printing technologies at drupa 2024, with a focus on the possibilities of elevated printing through the World Unseen exhibition. This initiative, part of the ‘The Power to Move’ campaign, aims to demonstrate the emotional impact of imaging and print in enriching lives and businesses.

Visitors to Canon’s stand in Hall 8a can explore elevated print applications developed for retail environments and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Central to the exhibit is ‘The Core’, a multisensory space showcasing the transformative power of print.

A key feature is an adaptation of the ‘World Unseen’ campaign, initially created for the visually impaired at Somerset House in London. In partnership with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), this exhibit uses touch to convey imagery, telling stories and evoking emotions. Technologies such as the Arizona 2300 FLXflow and PRISMAelevate XL, which produce these elevated prints, are being highlighted.

Canon Europe previously hosted the World Unseen exhibition at Somerset House from April 5-7, 2024. It invited blind, partially sighted, and sighted individuals to experience photography through touch, supported by audio descriptions and soundscapes. Elevated prints allowed visitors to feel different elements of the images, making photography accessible through touch.

In addition to the World Unseen prints, Canon’s drupa stand displays other elevated print applications, including textured interior décor for a Norwegian florist, Fiori, and an in-store experience for the German furniture retailer POCO.

Canon’s emphasis on innovation, digital transformation, and collaboration is also evident. The Arizona 2300 FLXflow printer, known for its productivity and versatility, is showcased. This printer can handle a wide range of materials, including wood, glass, and metal, producing high-quality, creative prints that meet modern production needs. The PRISMAelevate XL software further enhances these prints with textures up to 4mm high, ideal for interior décor and retail applications.

Mathew Faulkner, EMEA Marketing & Innovation Director of Canon Europe, stated, “We take immense pride in our comprehensive printing portfolio and strive to create unique and practical applications that open up countless opportunities for PSPs. The World Unseen exhibition is just one example of the possibilities achievable with Canon technology. We look forward to welcoming visitors at drupa to experience these powerful images and to explore business growth opportunities showcased across our stand.”

After drupa, the World Unseen imagery will be reproduced across various EMEA locations, making the experience accessible to a broader audience and encouraging local print service providers to explore elevated printing opportunities.
