Can-Pack Group, a Poland-based manufacturer of aluminium beverage cans and glass bottles, on 19 January officially opened its new manufacturing plant at Dubai Investments Park.
The launch of the 14,000m2 facility coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Can-Pack group, based in Cracow.
Built at an investment of AED200m (USD54m), the factory is the group’s second manufacturing unit in the area and has a daily production capacity of 1.75m cans.
The facility will also serve as a warehouse and distribution centre for the group, said the company in a statement.
At the launch, Can-Pack’s CEO and president, Philip Impink, said the manufacturing plant “will enable us to better service our clients”.
“Since first establishing a beverage can factory in Dubai Investments Park in early 2007, we have witnessed a growing demand for high quality one-way packaging,” he said.
“This facility has enabled us to bring our total capacity of cans to over 1.6 billion per annum or a spectacular five million cans per day.”
He added that Can-Pack Group’s quality production of cans has received attention from major companies worldwide such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Heineken, Carlsberg, SAB-Miller, and InBev.
To ensure its products remain environment friendly, Can-Pack only uses water-based paints and varnishes that eliminate the negative impact of printing and varnishing on the natural environment, said Impink.
The launch was also attended by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the UAE Minister of Economy, along with Prof Adam Krzymowski, ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Abdul Baseet Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME, Khalid Kalban, the CEO of Dubai Investments, Omar Al Mesmar, general manager of Dubai Investments Park, Michal Sloniec, the managing director of Can-Pack Middle East, and Peter Giorgi, shareholder of Can-Pack Group.
Can-Pack Middle East is a subsidiary of Poland-based Can-Pack, and has recently completed 25 years since its operations started in 1989, under the name of Pol-Am-Pack. With 38 plants, the company aspires to become a global leader in metal packaging.
