Asahi Photoproducts showcased its sustainable packaging solutions at the 7th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, where it highlighted its advancements in eco-friendly printing technologies.
The company has introduced the AFP-RTM reduced solvent plates, offering a low-cost, low-investment solution for transitioning from traditional solvent-based plate production to more eco-friendly alternatives. This development allows businesses to adopt more sustainable practices without significant equipment changes.
The company also showcased the AWP™ water-washable plates, which use tap water for washout, eliminating the need for detergents. This approach significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with plate washing, aligning with growing industry demands for sustainability. Asahi Kasei, the parent company, is committed to achieving carbon neutrality across all operations by 2050, further demonstrating their dedication to sustainable innovation.
Asahi’s technology aligns with broader trends in packaging sustainability, as companies increasingly explore methods to lower their environmental impact. The shift to flexographic printing, for example, is gaining traction among brands such as Wahaha Group and Songyu Printing and Packaging, which are adopting this method for beverage packaging. Flexographic printing’s reduced carbon emissions make it a more sustainable option compared to traditional gravure printing. This move reflects the industry’s growing focus on reducing CO2 emissions and adopting eco-friendly materials in packaging production.
