Epson finalizes acquisition of Fiery to boost digital printing innovation

Epson strengthens its position in digital printing with the acquisition of Fiery, LLC, a leader in DFE servers and workflow solutions.

Seiko Epson Corporation has completed the acquisition of Fiery, LLC, a leading provider of digital front-end (DFE) servers and workflow solutions for the print industry. The transaction was finalized on December 2, 2024, with Epson acquiring all equity interests in Fiery held by Electronics for Imaging, Inc., and an affiliate of Siris Capital Group, LLC. With this acquisition, Fiery becomes a specified subsidiary of Epson, as the amount invested exceeds 10% of Epson’s capital.

Epson and Fiery have a longstanding history of advancing digital printing technology. Fiery’s products have been integral to the print industry for over 30 years, providing software, servers, and workflow solutions that enhance productivity for print businesses. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Epson’s strategic vision and complement its hardware leadership in commercial and industrial printing.

“We are delighted to welcome Fiery into the Epson Group,” said Yasunori Ogawa, President and Representative Director of Epson. “This agreement will not only drive further growth in our printing businesses but also accelerate the digital transformation of the analog printing market in an innovative way.”

Toby Weiss, CEO of Fiery, expressed optimism about the deal: “Epson’s acquisition of Fiery showcases the uniquely important role we play in enabling success across the print industry. We are thrilled to join the Epson family to drive the growth of digital printing around the world.”

Frank Baker, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Siris, also commented: “Siris has had an incredible partnership with Fiery, and Epson is the ideal owner to guide the company as it continues to provide critical technology solutions to the print industry.”

The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2024, pending regulatory approvals. Following the closure, Fiery will retain its name, organizational structure, and operations from its existing offices.
