Constantia Flexibles has announced that its mono-polypropylene (PP) laminate, PERPETUA, has received Technology Approval from RecyClass. The approval highlights the company’s efforts in advancing sustainable packaging within the pharmaceutical sector.
PERPETUA, a laminate made of BOPP/metBOPP/CPP, was tested under the guidance of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE). The laminate underwent comprehensive evaluations to confirm its recyclability. “This recognition strengthens our position as innovators in mono-PP laminates,” said Dr. Roberto Martin, Head of Innovation Laminates at Constantia Flexibles.
In addition to its recyclability, PERPETUA offers strong barrier protection against moisture, oxygen, and light. It also contributes to reducing global warming potential by 48 to 55% compared to similar multi-material laminates.
The approval also includes the PERPETUA ALTA variant, which recently earned the RecyClass Letter of Compatibility for Design for Recycling, class B, following its Technology Approval in 2022.
This certification establishes a new benchmark for recyclable materials in the packaging industry, providing brands with sustainable solutions that align with high recyclability standards. As the PP recycling stream in Europe evolves, Constantia Flexibles aims to meet the growing demand for recyclable packaging.
