UPM Raflatac has introduced its new OptiCut™ WashOff linerless label, expanding its direct thermal label offering for the reuse of plastic packaging. The label is designed for returnable and reusable plastic containers, including those made from PP, HDPE, and PET, used in food logistics. This product aims to meet growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions, driven by changing regulations and consumer expectations.
Compatible with most direct thermal printers and weighing scales, the OptiCut WashOff label offers strong adhesion and excellent washability. It separates easily without leaving adhesive residue, ensuring its suitability for both industrial cleaning processes and home washing machines.
The label provides several benefits, including clean cuts on a variety of surfaces, minimized service costs, extended maintenance cycles, and flexibility in print and cut lengths.
Additionally, all products in UPM Raflatac’s OptiCut linerless range are CarbonNeutral® certified through Climate Impact Partners, in line with The CarbonNeutral Protocol. This certification offsets the unavoidable emissions associated with the product through the purchase of high-quality carbon credits.
Andoni Rodriguez, Director of Business Segment Logistics, Retail, Office & Linerless at UPM Raflatac, commented, “As retailers, HORECA, and logistics companies are increasingly shifting towards returnable and reusable containers, we are excited to offer this wash-off solution for direct thermal printing.” He further noted, “This solution reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and supporting customers on their sustainability journey.”
The OptiCut WashOff label is now available to customers, marking a step forward in UPM Raflatac’s efforts to provide eco-friendly packaging solutions.
